I Took the Dose 2-Week Gut Shot Challenge—Here’s What Happened

There’s no denying that the winter months are tough, both physically and emotionally. As the weather turns and the days get shorter, you might find it difficult to feel motivated or energized to take on a busy schedule. Therefore, I was incredibly happy to have the opportunity to try DOSE‘s 2 Week Gut Shot Challenge just as we begin the winter season in Canada.

With a low mood, lack of energy and difficulty digesting all that holiday comfort food, I wanted to see what the Gut Shot had to offer, both for my physical health and for my mental clarity. Here’s what I experienced in the two weeks taking this challenge and the tips I would suggest to anyone else interested in trying it too.

Food Was Easier to Digest💩

Infused with lemon, ginger, turmeric and black pepper, I knew my tastebuds were in store for a wake-up call when I started this 2-week shot challenge. However, I also knew that all those ingredients were great for supporting digestion and overall wellness, especially in the colder months of the year. I found that the best time to take a Gut Shot was after a big meal—lunch or dinner—as a way to both get a boost and help digest any heavy food.

The more I did this, the more I noticed feeling less bloated and less lethargic, especially in the evenings. It quickly became a ritual that helped me unwind my system for the next few hours.

It Gave Me a Real Boost🔋

I enjoyed taking a Gut Shot after a big meal. I also liked to mix things up some days and take a shot before an afternoon workout. This helped me get that much-needed boost for half an hour of cardio. It also helped with my stomach so that I felt less bloated and lighter as I ran. However, if you have a sensitive digestive system, I would recommend not taking a shot on a completely empty stomach. The lemon and ginger, while great at digesting food, might cause a bit of discomfort if there’s no food in your stomach, to begin with.

Pairing these healthy ingredients with regular exercise and nutritional meals really made me feel like I was taking care of my health during the months where we’re all most likely to get sick.

My Skin Was Glowing

Along with giving my metabolism and digestion a kick, I feel like the DOSE Gut Shots helped give my skin an added glow as we approach the dryer months. While skincare is always appropriate, working on yourself from the inside out is a great way to maintain your overall wellness. Vitamin C helps fight free radicals in the body. Free radicals can cause the breakdown of collagen, which can lead to unflattering skin. The Gut Shot, being a source of this precious nutrient, was my skin saviour. I think it made a noticeable improvement in my skin’s overall glow and clarity.

There are a variety of ways to maintain your health and wellness. The 2-week DOSE Gut Shot challenge showed me that it can be as simple as a shot a day. The flavour can be a bit intense at first, especially if you aren’t used to concentrated citrus or black pepper in your beverages. Having said that, it will definitely grow on you and become an easy way to get that mental and physical boost you need to help you take on a busy schedule or keep you on track with whatever you have going on.
