This chai latte is rich in flavour and out of the ordinary! The reason? The Dose Juice’s Kick! This juice contains lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper which really adds a kick to the latte! Slightly fruity, but especially spicy, this chai will bring great comfort to your throat which can sometimes suffer from colder winter temperatures.
Originally from India, chai tea is typically made with black tea and a masala spice blend served with hot milk. This modified version does not contain any tea and can therefore be consumed before bedtime. With its spicy taste, the chai latte “kick” can also be a good option to drink first thing in the morning to give you a boost or when you feel a little tired.
Ingredients (for 2 beverages)
- 1 cup of plant-based milk
- 1/2 cup of water
- 300 ml of Dose Juice – Kick
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp fresh chopped ginger
- 1/8 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/8 c. ground nutmeg
- Juice of a lime
- 2 tbsp of maple syrup
Method
1. In a small saucepan, bring water, Dose juice, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves and nutmeg to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the lime juice and maple syrup.
2. Use a French press or very fine sieve to strain the mixture and pour into 2 cups.
3. Froth the plant-based milk and pour over the preparation!
The beverage (without the plant-based milk) can be kept a few days in the refrigerator in an airtight glass container. Just heat it up in a saucepan before serving. You can also drink it cold like an iced tea or juice!
